Lunchbox: An Original Play by Asian Student Alliance

May 31, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

$25.00

Lunchbox is an original play written by Asian Student Alliance (ASA) students based on their lived experiences. The narrative centers on the daily joys and hardships of four Asian American high school students. The purpose of the play is to educate the non-Asian American community and spread awareness about some of the shared experiences of Asian American youth today. This is an excellent opportunity for school districts, governmental and community-based organizations, and corporations who wish to expand their diversity and inclusion educational opportunities for their employees.

Students have followed a rigorous process encompassing the entire school year to conceptualize, write, edit, perform, and prepare Lunchbox for their communities. Lunchbox will be performed at the Lawrenceville Art Center from May 27th to May 31st in honor and celebration of AANHPI Heritage Month. Lunchbox will be one hour in length, followed by a 45-minute discussion facilitated by ASA students. There are 8 shows in total, each with limited seating. Tickets are on sale now until May 23rd for $25, and prices rise to $30. Tickets can be purchased online at auroratheatre.com

About ASA: Asian Student Alliance (ASA) is a 501C3 non-profit student-led organization in metropolitan Atlanta, including the following counties: Barrow, Dekalb, Fulton, Forsyth, Gwinnett, and Walton. ASA was created in the wake of the racially-motivated Atlanta area Spa Shootings, in order to reduce anti-Asian racism through education and leadership. Asians are the least represented racial group in all areas of leadership in the United States today. The purpose of ASA is to raise leadership capacity among Asian American youth through a student-centered approach, developing positive intersectional identities, navigating immigrant family dynamics, building coalitions, and increasing knowledge of Asian Americans in U.S. history.
