SUMMARY:Normal Aging vs Dementia Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Whether you are an older adult or your family members are aging\, you have questions about aging…understanding the difference of normal aging and dementia can be helpful! According to the World Health Organization (September\, 2021) there are currently more than 55 million people live with dementia worldwide\, and there are nearly 10 million new cases every year. \nPeachtree Christian Health is hosting this workshop. There is a limit of 20 attendees\, so RSVP soon! You will come away with a greater understanding of what is ahead as you or your loved ones age and how to prepare. \nTopics Covered: \n*What is normal aging? \n*What is dementia and how does this differ from Alzheimer’s disease? \n*How does dementia affect our brain and therefore affect our quality of life? \n*Getting a Correct Diagnosis \n*How does dementia affect the family and where do we go to get help? \nThe workshop is presented by Robin Dill. Robin directed a congregational respite ministry for people with dementia for 13 years\, taught caregiver classes and has been a caregiver\, herself. Certified by the Alzheimer’s Association and the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers\, Robin brings a wealth of knowledge to this topic. Presently Robin works as a consultant to churches and families living with dementia\, leads a caregiver support group\, and serves on the board of Peachtree Christian Health\, a life enrichment center for people living with memory loss. \nRSVP: Call Peachtree Christian Health at 770-624-2727 by April 6th.
