DESCRIPTION:This course\, approved by the Prevention Credentialing Consortium of Georgia as a Core Course\, will provide a basic foundation of prevention knowledge that can be further expanded through ongoing prevention training and development. By the end of this workshop\, participants will: \n\nIdentify protective factors currently being used or those that will be implemented;\nIdentify one prevention process/program that represents each prevention strategy;\nIdentify risk factors;\nDetermine what works in prevention;\nDefine prevention strategies; and\nOutline historical timeline of prevention\n\nThis is a two-day course. Registrant must attend both days of training in order to receive credit. \nThis course will take place at the Lucky Shoals Park Community Center. The deadline to register is 5:00 pm on Wednesday\, April 5.

DESCRIPTION:Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents\, family members\, caregivers\, teachers\, school staff\, peers\, neighbors\, health and human services workers\, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. More details on this virtual course can be found here. \nRegistration will close when our capacity limit of 20 participants has been met or at 5 pm on Monday\, October 11 (whichever comes first). Registration can be completed here. \nThis training requires a minimum of 10 participants per virtual event. If there are not at least 10 people registered for an event\, it will be canceled. If you are signed up for a training that is canceled\, we will reach out to let you know and will offer to move your registration to another training date.

DESCRIPTION:United Way of Greater Atlanta in Gwinnett County presents Gwinnett Forward: Bridging the Gap\, on Thursday\, October 27\, 2022\, at Lawrenceville Arts Center. The event will showcase the Gwinnett SPARK Prize competition for social entrepreneurs to improve economic stability\, strong learners\, and racial equity. The competition is conducted Shark Tank-style\, where the best pitch wins a $25\,000 prize. \nDoors open at 6:00 pm and the live competition begins at 7:00. Food and cash bar will be available. Tickets are $25 with a limited number available. All proceeds fund the competition’s People’s Choice Award. \nTickets can be purchased at Lvillartscenter.com.
